Yasei Shinrin-Yoku
Teachers Training
Wild Forest Bathing - discover your way…your path… to better health, to meaning and to your soul.
Yasei Shinrin-Yoku Teachers Training provides participants with certification to perform our unique version of Forest Bathing, which combines the healing abilities presented by the natural world with spiritual and environmental stewardship, which encourages meaning and purpose within the context of agape relationships and the Wildcrafters Promise.

This program at the Wildcraft Forest School is the only one of its kind as it links participants with a specific forest of their choosing so that they may practice and care for it like a temple of spiritual significance.

We offer this training course online and within camps where participants are taught to experience and translate forest energies both spiritually and physically. The course also outlines specific methods of practice and counseling that lends itself to an independent Yasei Shinrin-Yoku practice.

The Wildcraft Forest School offers this course internationally through satellite training camps, online distance learning and from the Wildcraft Forest School Retreat Centre in British Columbia.

Shinrin-Yoku was developed in Japan during the 1980s and has become a building block of preventive health care and healing in Japanese medicine. Researchers primarily in Japan and South Korea have established an extensive body of scientific literature on the health benefits of spending time under the canopy of a living forest. Now their research is helping to establish Shinrin-Yoku and other forest therapies such as the Wildcraft Forest Yasei Shinrin-Yoku community of healing which incorporates many ancient teachings linked to better health and stewardship.
There are good reasons to participate in
Yasei Shinrin-Yoku Deep Forest Therapy:

Release - In order to feel better, to feel good, to feel refreshed and invigorated it’s important to release all that is holding us back. Nature can be the medium by which release can occur, it creates the diversion in which you van return back to your core being. Research has found evidence that spending time in nature provides protections against a startling range of diseases, including depression, diabetes, obesity, ADHD, cardiovascular disease, cancer, and many more.

Be Present – Our wildcrafted form of Shinrin-Yoku provides you with the means to notice the different layers of life and energies in the natural world. Being aware of simple relationships allow us to notice the elemental synchronicities that can inspire us with wonder. When we become immersed in nature there is a certain mindfulness, which is reawakened within us. Nature is like a super multivitamin that provides us with all sorts of the nutrients we need. That's how nature can protect us from all these different kinds of diseases--cardiovascular, respiratory, mental health, musculoskeletal, etc. – simultaneously.

Re-connect Your Senses – By exercising our five senses we become more alert and in-tune, this allows our mind, body and spirit to renew and re-boot our immune system. One way to understand this relationship between nature, health, and the immune system is that exposure to nature switches the body into "rest and digest" mode, which is the opposite of the "fight or flight" mode. When the body is in "fight or flight" mode, it shuts down everything that is immediately nonessential, including the immune system.

When we feel completely safe, our body devotes resources to long-term investments that lead to good health outcomes--growing, reproducing, and building the immune system. When we are in nature in that relaxed state, and our body knows that it's safe, it invests resources toward the immune system.

Imagine – We are Gaia’s imagination and immersion in the natural world allows us to find a place of connection or greater creativity and purpose because we are free to be happy. If you are absorbed and relaxed, chances are your parasympathetic system is happy and your immune system is going to get a boost because the forest provides the phytoncides, mycobacterium vaccae, negative air ions, vitamin D-producing sunlight, and other active ingredients that lead to better physical and mental health.

Breathe – the forest is a single living organism it connects everything. Wildcrafting presents a form of deep ecology that demonstrates how this world is sentient and that the beauty that nature presents to us moves us far beyond our present comprehension. This experience will encourage you to breathe deeply so that you can renew the love within yourself and with everything around you. Our wildcrafted form of Shinrin-Yoku can provide you with deeper and clearer intuition and energy; increased ability to communicate with ecosystems and eros or life force – and a greater sense of joy and community.

About Yasei Shinrin-Yoku
Yasei Shinrin-Yoku incorporates wildcrafting, and includes a tangible understanding of the sentient forest. Yasei considers the expansion of our health, purpose and well-being as being directly related to the work that we do for the benefit of the forest – the practice considers that we and the forest are “one” and that through this presence the true natural balance of energy can be achieved that benefits the individual and the natural world. If we invest in the health and growth of the forest then the forest will invest in us – the medium of exchange is “life-force”.

Participants are introduced to the many spirit guides that dwell in the forest. Through the use of meditation, therapeutic motion, sound, observation, lucid sleep practices and forest-based teas and oils, we will explore the subconscious and healing energies that connect the forest with the most ancient part of our soul.
Students at the Wildcraft Forest School present mantras and prayers for the water and the rainforest.
